It’s a morbid obsession,
That of death and dying, But it seems so well adjusted, Into all of life. The ticking time bomb of destiny, Slowly dying, A yet interrupted fate, Coming closer.

The annual Special Olympics occurred recently and HMS had many wonderful contestants. For those who don’t know, the Special Olympics is a event where children and adults with intellectual disabilities can participate in events.
For the past few months, the Heritage Middle School Junior Thespians have been working on a one-act play called ‘Perfect’ by Alan Haehnel. The play follows a girl named Bethany and her struggles of growing up; starting school, mean girls, family issues, and boys. Bethany’s life starts like any normal kid, her dad documents everything for their home videos and her mom praises her like any parent would. The play shows how her expectation of herself being perfect affects her and those around her.
How long can forever truly last?
What seemed so infinite quickly races past. The firsts of a generation, Watch them all go: Plastic waste is everywhere, we can’t escape it. You may not think much about it, but in total the average human throws away about 200 pounds of plastic waste yearly. We have a species throw away over 300 million metric tons of plastic every year. In 4 years that’s over 1 billion metric tons of plastic waste.
This article is going to be a bit different than my normal ones, I have reached out and asked you readers to anonymously tell me the worst scenarios you have been in, and have ranked them here.
Men in abusive relationships are treated very differently compared to women. Even in today’s modern, inclusive, society men are seen different from women
Everyone has been wondering who the new DLC characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is. If you do not know what DLC means, it means “downloadable content”, for example, think of it as an expansion to a game that can be free or paid for. In this case, they are adding 6 new fighters to the roster for super smash bros.
The Story Behind the Smart Asian Stereotype
By Stupid Thoughts with Ian This article is not meant to be offensive, it is just a thought I had. Have you ever wondered to yourself, “why do we assume that asians are smart?" There just so happens to be a surprisingly fascinating story involved. As you go through school, your experiences with class discussions, or socratic seminars, grows. They are a great ways to get a class to discuss a topic, but they are inherently flawed.
YouTube Rewind 2018 was full of good and bad, mainly bad, things. Like all things, YouTube Rewind has pros and cons.
On January 11, 2019, HMS had their 28th Annual Geography Bee in the SAC. There were 30 participants; 10 from 6th grade, 10 from 7th grade, and 10 from 8th grade.
#1 (was #1 when I wrote it)
Stupid Thoughts with Ian I know that this is quite a controversial topic because there is a handful of people that have been hurt by confetti, and if you have, I’m sorry, and I highly advise that you look away from this article, turn off your computer, go to your room, turn off the lights, tuck yourself into bed, then lay there crying about life. As you are laying there, ask yourself, how did you manage to hurt yourself with confetti? Over the Thanksgiving break, I finished one of the most popular plays in the world, Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Macbeth in an amazing book, a real page turner, if I do say so myself. It had all the aspects that make a book great.
Why Nintendo can’t let Waluigi into Smash
#6 By Stupid Thoughts With Ian If you have been sitting under a rock for the last few months or just don't keep up with Nintendo/ game theory, a lot of fans have been requesting that Nintendo add Waluigi into Super Smash Bros. The fans have many reasons to want Waluigi because they have Mario, Luigi, and Wario, yet no Waluigi! Also, people really love the “waa” that Waluigi makes instead of speech and he has grown in popularity by 4 times in the recent months because of it. I live a life of ignorance,
It surrounds all of me Never stop to stare or think, What is plain and clear to see If you haven't seen Hamilton yet or at least heard of it, Hamilton is a musical about the life of Alexander Hamilton from his youth to his wife’s dying days (the play doesn't end with his death). In listening to the soundtrack on loop over the break, I noticed how stupid a lot of the lines Jefferson said were.
Regret the phrases never said,
When you lose someone before they’re dead Broken promises, White lies. But you can’t see yourself, Through their eyes. We are officially done with the football season! Our football team tried their best, but sadly we didn't come out on top.
One of my all-time favorite books that I can re-read over and over again is Whisper. This book was written by Chrissie Keighery.
Mrs. Heilhecker is an English teacher at HMS. She has been teaching for five years and has been at HMS for two years.
